The most recent digital handheld hardness tester from the renowned German business Bareiss is the HPE III Shore digital durometer. The Bareiss Shore durometer displays the temperature of the test specimen as well as the ambient temperature and humidity, in addition to the hardness value for your test specimen.... Read More
The German material testing company, Bareiss, has a long history of producing high-quality hardness testing equipment. Since its founding in 1954, Bareiss has been manufacturing hardness testers, and its first product was introduced in 1961. The HP series hardness tests developed by Bareiss have maintained their accuracy and reliability over the past 65 years. With almost 100,000 units sold worldwide, Bareiss hardness testers are widely recognized for their precision, repeatability, and reproducibility.
The HP hardness tester is particularly suitable for fieldwork due to its portable and lightweight design. Despite its lightweight construction using aluminum, it remains a reliable and precise hardness tester. The HP tester utilizes different-sized ball bearings to minimize friction during the movement of the indenter.
The Bareiss HP hardness tester series offers 11 categories of hardness testing, including A, B, C, D, E, 0, 00, 000, 000S, A0, and D0. This versatility allows for a wide range of testing applications, both for shore and non-shore hardness testing purposes. Additionally, Bareiss offers bespoke presser foot options to meet specific requirements.
The latest model, the HPE III durometer, is an advancement over its predecessor, the HPE II. It features modern features such as the ability to measure the hardness value of a specimen along with its temperature, as well as the temperature and humidity of the environment. The HPE III is lightweight with an aluminum housing and can be operated with one hand, ensuring accurate results with a 90-degree approach to the specimen.
The HPE III durometer includes a large LCD screen with backlighting, displaying information such as sample temperature, environmental temperature and humidity, time and date of the test, and past hardness values with corresponding timestamps. It also has a memory capacity for storing up to 300 test results. The device is equipped with an RS232 USB connection for connectivity and battery charging.
The Bareiss HPE III durometer offers various improvements and specifications, including a 300 measurement memory, hardness ratings from 1 to 100 in 0.1 increments, time measurement, constant force of pressure, and a storage case. The dimensions of the device are 150 mm x 68 mm x 43 mm, with an 18 mm diameter and 2.5 mm deformation. The primary testing methods for the HPE III are A and D, employing specific parameters for accurate measurements.
To enhance accuracy and repeatability, Bareiss offers two test stand options for the HPE III durometer. The BS 61 mechanical test stand provides precise angling, while the BSA automatic test stand ensures proper indenter lowering and 90-degree support for the durometer. These test stands eliminate measurement inaccuracies associated with manual testing and cater to different testing needs.
Bareiss’s commitment to quality is evident in its German manufacturing and adherence to industry standards. The HPE III durometer is accredited by ASTM D 2240, DIN ISO 7619, and NF EN ISO 868 standards. It also offers a comprehensive calibration solution to ensure accurate readings and provides a specialized turnkey solution for customized hardness testing requirements.
The HPE III durometer is known for its ease of use, flexibility, and top-notch automatic test stand. It has gained recognition in industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, plastics, and rubber. Bareiss continues to improve its hardness testing equipment to meet the specific needs of different sectors.
For customers seeking a complete material testing solution, NextGen Material Testing, a trusted partner of Bareiss, provides expert guidance, sample preparation services, and training on equipment usage.
