ASTM D6266-00 is used to determine the amount of volatile organic compound (VOC) released from waterborne automotive coatings. The information obtained is used to determine the amount of VOC available for removal by a VOC control device.
Scope:
Waterborne coatings use water as a solvent to disperse the resin used to make the coating or paint. Waterborne coatings release volatile organic compounds (VOC) when applied. ASTM D6266 measures the amount of VOC a coating releases. VOCs are bad for our health and our environment. VOC control devices are used to treat VOC pollutants. This test indicates the amount of VOC that will be delivered to the control device for treatment. The data obtained from this test is used in the designing, manufacturing, and quality control of VOC control devices. The total amount of VOC removed by the VOC control device is a function of the amount available as given by this test method combined with the VOC removal efficiency of the control device.
Test Procedure:
ASTM D6266-00 measures the loss of VOC from a freshly coated surface by:
Data:
The weight of VOC available for abatement is reported.
ASTM E572 test method covers the analysis of stainless and alloy steels by Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (WDXRF). It provides rapid, multi-element determinations with sufficient accuracy to assure product quality.
The ASTM D2674 is a standard test method for the analysis of sulfochromate etches solution used in the surface preparation of aluminum. The ASTM D2674 standard specifies a method for determining the efficacy of an etchant used to prepare the surface of aluminum alloys for subsequent adhesive bonding.
An immunological method for quantization of Hevea Natural Rubber (HNRL) proteins using rabbit anti-HNRL serum. Rabbits immunized with HNRL proteins react to the majority of the proteins present, and their sera have the capability to detect most if not all the proteins in HNRL.
