Vibration Package Integrity Testing
Vibration Package Integrity Testing
Vibration package integrity testing is a process used to assess a package’s protection during transportation. It evaluates a package’s response to vibration and its ability to protect its contents during transit. Testing for vibration integrity is important because it can reduce transportation vibrations and ensure the reliability of the packaging. Poor packaging can lead to product damage, returns, product fixes, discounts, markdowns, and lost revenue.
When conducting a vibration test, the sample should be filled with the intended contents or wrapped as similarly as possible. The test is then conducted in atmospheric conditions similar to those used for conditioning. If necessary, the equipment is placed in the middle of the vibration table and secured to it.
At the end of the test, the engineer will produce a report detailing the accepted measurement, the date and time of the test, a description of the conditioning, any modifications to the procedure, and the findings. This report will help interpret the results and ensure that the package can withstand vibration and protect its contents.
