About Humidity Testing
Humidity Testing is a suite of standardized environmental tests performed to evaluate the prolonged effect of humidity on a product or material. Humidity can mitigate a product’s performance, accelerate corrosion, cause moisture diffusion issues, induce mechanical failure, and result in other detrimental effects over a product’s lifetime. These effects can be studied using controlled environmental chambers that simulate 100% relative humidity under constant or cyclic temperature and humidity conditions. It is routinely performed independently or as a part of accelerated aging tests on products and devices following industry standards or custom set-ups.
Humidity testing is a critical component in material selection, product design, product reliability testing, and ensuring regulatory compliance for products. It is used to determine material degradation, mechanical, optical, and sealant failures in a wide range of products from electrical components, pharmaceutical containers, plastics, metals, epoxy coatings, computers, automotive parts, etc.
