    Scope:

    Apparent viscosity is the shear stress applied to a fluid divided by the shear rate. ASTM D6267-13 test method is used to measure the apparent viscosity of hydrocarbon resins at elevated temperatures. Elevated temperature viscosity values of a hydrocarbon resin is related to the properties of coatings, adhesives and the like, containing such a resin.

    Test Procedure:

    In ASTM D6267-13 test method a rotating spindle-type viscometer is used to determine the apparent viscosity of hydrocarbon resins at elevated temperatures. The fluid sample is placed in the container. The temperature is elevated. The fluid remains stationary and a spindle moves through it. The drag caused by the relative motion of the fluid and the surface is the measure of the viscosity.
