ASTM D1475 Density of Liquid Coatings, Inks
ASTM D1475 test is used for measuring the Density of Liquid Coatings, Inks, and Related Products. This test is useful for high viscosity fluid products. Industries concerned with paints, varnishes, inks, lacquers, and constituents other than pigments in fluid form use this test method.
Scope:
ASTM D1475 test is used for measuring the density of paints, varnishes, inks, lacquers, and constituents other than pigments in fluid form. It is especially useful when the fluid is too volatile or has high viscosity for a density balance determination. ASTM D1475 is applicable for testing products that require maximum accuracy. It can also be used to test products that do not require high accuracy.
Test Procedure:
For ASTM D1475, distilled water in an accurate quantity having an absolute density at different temperatures is used to calibrate the volume of a vessel or container. Then, the weight of the liquid paint or other pigment contents of the container at a fixed temperature or at the agreed temperature is determined. Finally, the density of the contents is calculated as grams per liter or pounds per gallon at the specified temperature.
Sample size:
The sample size is used as specified by ASTM D1475.
Data:
For ASTM D1475, the container volume is calculated as follows:
V=(N−M)/ρ
where:
V = volume of the container, mL,
M = weight of the dry container, g,
N = weight of container and water, g and
ρ = absolute density of water at the specified temperature, g/mL
Density in grams per milliliter is calculated as follows:
Dm=(W-w)/V
where:
Dm= density, g/mL,
Density in pounds per gallon is calculated as follows:
D=(W-w)K/V
where:
D = density, lb/gal,
K = 8.3454, and
V = volume of container, mL
Conclusion:
ASTM D1475 test is used for measuring the Density of Liquid Coatings, Inks, and Related Products.
ASTM E572 test method covers the analysis of stainless and alloy steels by Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (WDXRF). It provides rapid, multi-element determinations with sufficient accuracy to assure product quality.
The ASTM D2674 test is a standard test method for the analysis of sulfochromate etch solutions used in the surface preparation of aluminum. The ASTM D2674 standard specifies a method for determining the efficacy of an etchant used to prepare the surface of aluminum alloys for subsequent adhesive bonding.
An immunological method for quantization of Hevea Natural Rubber (HNRL) proteins using rabbit anti-HNRL serum. Rabbits immunized with HNRL proteins react to the majority of the proteins present, and their sera have the capability to detect most if not all the proteins in HNRL.
ASTM G65 measures the resistance of metallic materials to abrasion using the dry sand/rubber wheel apparatus. The quality, durability, and toughness of the sample are determined using this test. Metallic materials are ranked in their resistance to scratching abrasion under a controlled environment.
ASTM E2141 test methods provide accelerated aging and monitoring of the performance of time-dependent electrochromic devices (ECD) integrated in insulating glass units (IGU). This test helps to understand the relative serviceability of electrochromic glazings applied on ECD.
ASTM C724 test method is used in analyzing the quality and ease of maintenance of a ceramic decoration on architectural-type glass. This test method is useful in the acknowledgment of technical standards.
