When developing new products and materials, it is essential to ensure that they will withstand the effects of the elements. Weathering tests are conducted in real-world aging environments, simulated environments, and accelerated lab environments to assess the performance of materials. These tests measure the changes in properties that materials may experience due to exposure to various weather conditions.
Services such as carbon arc weather meter exposure, discoloration by UV staining, fog, oxygen index, ozone resistance, QUV-operating light, and water apparatus, salt fog and spray, stain resistance, sun, water resistance, and xenon arc exposure are commonly used to evaluate materials’ ability to withstand weather conditions. Companies may use these tests to improve their knowledge of how their products will function in the field.
