TEMPERED GLASS

Glass is heated to produce tempered glass. There are two steps in the tempering process:

  • Heating: The glass is heated to roughly 1200 °F as it passes through a high-heat tempering oven.
  • Quenching: The glass is then quenched or cooled down after being appropriately heated. Many nozzles spray cool air at the glass for several seconds as part of a quick quenching process. This violent shock compresses the surface and edges while putting the inner layer in tension, giving tempered glass its strength, which increases by three to five times.

Tempered glass can be found in a variety of products and is incredibly versatile. Automobile windows are made with tempered glass so that they won’t shatter in an accident. Tempered glass is the safer option since it will shatter into tiny, duller pieces than annealed glass.

Tempered glass is also used in heat-sensitive items throughout the house, including stovetops, ovens, counters, and tabletops.

Conclusion:

Tempered glass is a type of safety glass that is widely used in a variety of applications due to its increased strength and durability compared to traditional glass. Tempered glass is created by heating regular glass to a high temperature and then rapidly cooling it, which creates internal stresses that make the glass stronger and more resistant to breakage. Tempered glass is a valuable material that provides increased safety and durability in a variety of applications and should be considered for use in situations where strength and safety are a priority.
