TEAR RESISTANCE

Tear resistance testing is a method used to measure the strength of a material when subjected to a point of rupture. The force required to tear the material is measured and recorded as the tear strength. It is a common test method used in a variety of industries and applications.

The most common method for tear testing involves die-cutting a sample of the material and introducing a point of rupture. The force required to tear the material is then measured and recorded as the tear strength. This testing can also be performed at various temperatures to accurately measure the material’s resistance in different conditions.

The JIS K 6252 method is used to evaluate the tear strength of rubber parts, while the NISSAN – NES M0007 method is used to measure the tear resistance of small (Delft) pieces. Both methods involve introducing a point of rupture in the specimen and measuring the force required to tear the material. The results of these tests are then used to determine the tear strength of the material.
