PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

Employees must wear protective clothing when working in environments where they could be exposed to risks such as biological infections, molten metal splashes, toxic or corrosive chemicals, thermal extremes, etc. Aprons, coveralls, coats, pants, helmets, hoods, sleeves, gloves, and fully encasing chemical protective suits are some examples of protective clothing. A vest that reflects light is an example of specialized clothing for nighttime outdoor labor.

It’s crucial to choose clothing that can withstand the degradation and permeability caused by various chemicals. General factors for protective clothing are as follows:

  • Clothing made of wool and specially treated cotton is cozy and resistant to fire.
  • Cuts and bruises from heavy, sharp, or rough objects are prevented by heavy fabrics.
  • Dry heat and flame are protected from leather.
  • Rubber offers protection from chemicals and acids.
  • Synthetic materials could be more prone to catching fire.
  • Protect yourself from dusty materials using disposable suits made of paper-like material.
  • Suits for protecting against liquids or vapors, whether disposable or reusable, should be considered individually.
