Polymers and Olefins
Polymers and olefins are essential components of various products used in a myriad of industries. Their elemental composition can be broken down to create materials such as silicones, extenders, and lubricants. Therefore, understanding the molecular composition of these polymers is essential for predicting and understanding, how they can be applied in certain processes.
To ensure a product containing polymers and olefins meets the desired standard, a comprehensive analysis is needed. This includes the determination of the purity and quality of the product, as well as the monitoring of the production of refined chemicals. The most common methods used for this are gas chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In more advanced cases, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) may also be utilized. Additionally, physical parameters such as viscosity, density, flash point, and color are also assessed. Through these analyses, the raw materials and the main gas stream can be characterized accurately.
