HEAT AGING

Heat aging is a process that is used to understand and evaluate the deterioration of the physical and chemical properties of materials when exposed to elevated temperatures. Heat aging tests are conducted to develop materials for specific applications or to gain insight into the performance of new materials. These tests involve exposing the materials to accelerated conditions in an air oven and measuring tensile, hardness, specific gravity, geometry, and more before and after exposure.

At various facilities, there are multiple ovens and environmental chambers available to meet heat aging requirements. Several available methods exist, such as accelerated aging and heat resistance testing and rubber, vulcanized or thermoplastic-accelerated aging, and heat resistance tests. The results of these tests provide a better understanding of how a material will respond to various environmental conditions and how it will perform over time.
