HAZARDOUS WASTE

13 tonnes of hazardous garbage are produced globally every second. To protect our planet for future generations, this type of modern human-produced garbage must be appropriately handled, stored, and disposed of.Such hazardous trash is continuously produced by people. The scope of various human activities, such as industrial, agricultural, and domestic, determines the amount that is generated. The problem is getting worse today and now affects not just the entire world, but also specific communities.

Regulatory definitions of hazardous toxic waste are also possible. This includes one or more of the characteristics listed in the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) of the EPA, which includes the following features:

  • Corrosivity
  • Ignitability
  • Reactivity
  • Toxicity

In addition to these stringent guidelines, waste materials may nevertheless be termed “hazardous” even if they lack the specific technical characteristics of this category of dangerous waste. Examples include spent oil and soil after large cleanup projects.
