The gadgets are then checked for any evidence of damage after being subjected to these circumstances, typically using an acoustic microscope (which is preferred for its ability to image The devices are given an MSL rating based on the severity of the conditions they were subjected to, assuming no flaws are discovered.

The inherent flaws of a device or process can be found and strengthened by using a small number of devices and putting them to forces that are significantly greater than those they would encounter during regular operation. Many organizations decide to conduct HALT in-house rather than outsourcing them to a lab that offers semiconductor testing services because of how complex the tests are; nevertheless, they may still hire an outside source for root cause investigation of a device after it has failed during HALT.

In the end, the creation of contemporary electronics needs semiconductor testing services. Reliability and dependability are crucial, whether a device is going into orbit on a satellite or into the living room of a modest apartment; without adequate testing and analysis,
