Maintaining Ring Gages

Maintaining of  Ring Gages for better lifespan

More accurate readings and a longer equipment lifespan can be obtained by cleaning your gauge and keeping it in top condition. Here are some cleaning instructions for your gauge.

  • Before cleaning or handling the gauges, wash your hands. Our skin’s natural acids and oils can be harmful, leading to rust or corrosion.
  • To avoid unnecessary skin contact, hold the gauges by their exterior.
  • Before and after usage, wipe your gauges with a gentle, clean cloth. (Never use a dishtowel. The gauges may suffer from this.)
  • To extend the life of the equipment, re-oil the gauge properly if you stripped the oils from it.
  • Proper upkeep goes hand in hand with proper cleaning. These are several steps you may do to guarantee your gauge is always in good condition.
  • Keep them somewhere dry and cool. Due to the easy access to moisture, humidity can result in corrosive damage.
  • Keep your gauges from touching one another. Gauges that rub against one another could chip or even scratch. This might lead to inaccurate gauges and, if the damage is severe, possibly inoperable gauges.
  • Don’t let go of the gauge! When using a gauge that has been dropped, inspect it for chips or other damage.
  • Set your gage’s calibration. At the very least, we advise having your gauges calibrated once a year.
  • Ensure that your staff members are familiar with using and handling the gauges. In the long term, proper handling and care instruction will pay dividends.
  • Use the appropriate gauge for the task. Avoid trying to force gauges to fit a component or bend them to fit around something. This could end up damaging your gauges and causing extra damage to the gauge.
