Ingress Protection: Water Jets and Powerful Water Jets Tests (IPX5 & IPX6)

Written by Dr. Bhargav Raval | Updated: September 18, 2025

Water Jet Testing for IPX5:

  • Defined as water that a nozzle projects (6.3mm).
  • The water being sprayed against the enclosure from any angle must have no negative effects on the equipment under test (EUT).
  • The test specifications call for a minimum three-minute runtime, 12.5 litres of water per minute, and 30 kN/m2 of pressure at a three-meter distance.

Strong Water Jet Testing for IPX6:

  • Defined as water that a nozzle projects (12.5mm).
  • The water being sprayed against the enclosure from any angle must have no negative effects on the equipment under test (EUT).
  • The test specifications call for a minimum three-minute runtime, 100 litres of water per minute, and 100 kN/m2 of pressure at a three-meter distance.

Our expertise in assisting manufacturers to identify ingress points in their products as well as potential solutions sets Infinita Compliance’s IPX5 water jet and IPX6 powerful water jet testing apart. At the customer’s premises, we have experience conducting ingress protection testing.

Why should you perform your ingress testing at Infinita Lab Compliance’s IP Code lab? Our clients like our quick turnaround times, capacity to communicate the testing procedures and methodology, ability to provide consulting engineering help when failures occur, and competitive pricing. It is what has made us one of the nation’s fastest-growing businesses and the most reputable test labs in the area.

To learn why we are the sole ingress protection lab for so many manufacturers across the nation, get in touch with us for a quote on ingress protection testing.
