The Versatile Polymer : Polyethylene Terephthalate

PE plastic – Polyethylene

The polymerization of ethylene creates polyethylene, a lightweight and adaptable synthetic plastic. It is one of the most essential polyolefins and the most popular plastic in the world. High toughness and strong chemical resistance are hallmarks of PE polymers, a class of semicrystalline thermoplastics. Polyethylene plastic, however, lacks the mechanical strength and temperature resilience of other plastics.

Polyethylene comes in a wide range of molecular weights, each of which has a direct impact on the material’s specific mechanical and thermal properties. High density polyethylene (HDPE) and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW) are the two forms of PE plastic that find the most widespread application.  Multiple LDPE (low-density polyethylene) varieties exist as well.

Metal and X-ray detectable PE pellets, metal detectable extruded polyethylene rods, and pressure formed modifications in the form of PE rods and PE plastic sheets are all available from Infinita Lab, a polyethylene producer. Infinita Lab also provides PE machining in-house for customers who are interested in having polyethylene machined into completed products. We also provide PE profiles. And Infinita Lab is an expert in giving the right certifications to fulfill your PE criteria, no matter what the regulatory requirements are.

Polyethylene extrusion stock forms are available from Infinita Lab for machining as part of our comprehensive thermoplastics supply strategy. Infinita Lab’s modified PE plastics are sold under the TECAFINE PE trademark. Infinita Lab provides polyethylene stock forms, including but not limited to:

  • PE Bars and Plates
  • Customized PE tubes

These variations are all part of the Infinita Lab PE family:

  • PE 300 TECAFINE HD
  • This is TECAFINE PE 500 – PE HMW.
  • PE UHMW TECAFINE PE 1000

Properties and Specifications of Polyethylene Terephthalate:

  • Density that’s lower than most alternatives
  • Superior toughness under pressure, even at chillier temperatures
  • Polyethylene with a higher molecular weight has better wear resistance, especially against abrasive wear.
  • Polyethylene’s low moisture absorption makes it an excellent dielectric choice for a wide variety of uses.
  • Its non-polarity gives it exceptional resilience to chemicals.
  • Superior resistance to corrosive elements and sulfur compounds.
  • Not Sticky
  • It has a low dielectric constant, a consistent dielectric constant over all frequencies, and a high insulation resistance, making it an excellent electrical insulator.
  • Strong suppression of vibrations
  • Water and gas supply lines

Examples of the Use of Polyethylene

  • Chain pulley as a means of guidance
  • Container, silo, and conveyor belt linings
  • Discs that suction and filter
