The Alliance to Reduce Plastic Waste (AEPW) has only achieved 0.2% of its plastic diversion target, or about 34,000 tons, despite promising US$1.5 billion to combat waste since 2019. Planet Tracker, a financial think tank, claims that the AEPW is being used by its members, including large petrochemical corporations, to deflect attention away from the global increase in plastic manufacturing.
