ASTM E1019 Test Scope:
The compliance of alloys and metals with compositional specifications is determined by the test method ASTM E1019. The material composition, performance evaluation, reliability, and durability are determined. The data gained through this method can be applied for research and quality control. The method is of great importance for commercial analyzers, and helps perform calibrated operations using steel of known carbon content.
ASTM E1019 Test Procedure:
The ASTM E1019 test method proceeds with the formation of carbon dioxide by carbon combustion in a stream of oxygen. The zeolite is heated and carbon dioxide is absorbed by it and its amount is determined by a thermistor-type conductivity cell. Infrared absorption helps determine the amount of carbon dioxide. The energy of IR wavelength is absorbed by carbon dioxide as it passes through the cell body. The total amount of carbon, such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide is determined after regular intervals.

ASTM E1019 Test Specimen Size:
For the ASTM E1019 test, the specimens are uniform in size, but not finer than 40 mesh. Specimens are typically in the form of chips, drillings, slugs, or solids.
Data:
This test method covers the determination of carbon in concentrations from 0.005 % to 4.5 %.
ASTM E1019 Test Conclusion:
The ASTM E1019 test method is specifically important for the quality assurance and durability check of alloys. A detailed analysis is performed and wear preventive characteristics are determined.
