The Right Measurement Service Provider
Measurement Service Provider
If you want to select the best service provider, you should start here. The certification of a laboratory guarantees that your supplier is current and upholds applicable quality standards. This accreditation is a reliable sign of a service provider’s competence and quality. A calibration laboratory must be accredited under ISO 17025 to be considered technically competent. Each laboratory’s Scope of Accreditation, which is the technical way of saying all the areas they can calibrate with a high level of competency, reflects this competency.
Within Their Accreditation’s Purview
Locating a reputable service provider may not require much effort beyond finding a lab that is accredited. The most challenging step may be determining whether their scope of accreditation can match the measurement uncertainties that you require. The “scope of accreditation” document, which specifies the uncertainties in which they can give competent service, will be present in the majority of accredited calibration laboratories.
If they can calibrate all of your equipment is another important factor to consider. Does your service provider meet all of your needs for measurement services under one roof? A single-source service provider is a wise long-term choice because it can lessen logistical issues and give you more immediate assistance for urgent situations. Due to the breadth of our accreditation and the size of our network of other service providers, Infinita Lab can serve as your single-source service provider. If you are working with a non-accredited lab, you should find out about their measurement uncertainty and decide if it is sufficient for your needs. If you use a non-accredited lab, you run the risk of not receiving an accredited certification for your calibrations’ compliance.
Access to Calibration Certificate
All accredited calibrations include calibration certificates. The certificates list the equipment that was calibrated, the lab that performed the calibration, the calibration data, “as found” and “as left” data points, measurement uncertainties, the person who performed the calibration’s signature, the date, and the calibration’s equipment and lab information. As previously stated, if you do not use an accredited calibration supplier, you might not receive a calibration certificate that complies with your quality standards.
Asset Control
Does your service provider provide a data portal or asset management system where you may get information about your calibration certifications and services? In the digital age, asset management systems are becoming increasingly significant. An asset management system will be helpful to you if you still have calibration certifications in a filing cabinet or, worse, just sitting around at your desk. Your calibration data and other data from services rendered by a supplier are stored in an asset management system. Some even offer to send you notifications when the equipment you own is about to reach its calibration due date. (This is what our asset management system does!)
Are calibrations on-site?
In-house calibrations can keep your equipment completely approved and calibrated while sparing you long stretches of downtime. reducing the necessity of packing and shipping your equipment to a lab. You can benefit much from finding out if your service provider does this because it will prevent downtime charges and keep your production going.
Quick response or express service?
For companies that require a speedier turnaround time than usual, several providers offer accelerated or rapid response services. Long-term device absences are expensive and frequently necessitate additional compliance tasks. For some firms who need their equipment back as soon as possible, this modest service could make all the difference.
Do they Provide Justification for Their Actions?
While servicing your equipment, does the vendor provide notes of service or explain what they’re doing? Before servicing your equipment and after servicing it, providers should explain what they are doing and why, as well as if the device passed or failed. You should be given full disclosure of all the terms of the service by your supplier.
Services, Maintenance, and Repairs
Is the calibration laboratory capable of handling any necessary maintenance tasks? In addition to regular maintenance, emergency repairs, and other services, Infinita lab also has a full bespoke automation department.
Brand and reputation of the service provider – Is this a company you’d like to do business with again?
Do you trust the provider’s name brand? When it comes to your demands for measurement equipment, having a provider that can handle things for you is a significant benefit. A good service provider will leave you with no need to double-check whether the work was done correctly, or worse, will require you to have them re-service it soon after the calibrations were completed. It may not always be simple or affordable to find a reliable brand to stick with, but the long-term advantages of having a dependable service provider outweigh switching every year ten times.
