Sand and dust testing are the most critical environmental testing for electronics, equipment, or vehicle components that are to be operated in arid and semi-arid regions where exposure to these elements could significantly impact your product’s performance. MIL STD 810 is the military industry-standard testing method followed routinely to simulate the effects of sand and dust storms on electronic and vehicle components to check for their resistance to particulate matter. Testing is performed to check for attenuation of signal transmission, sealing effectiveness, clogging of filters, overheating, etc. Blowing chambers are used that can simulate wind conditions in the range of 40mph with capabilities to measure essential variables like humidity, temperature, wind speed, particle concentration, etc.
