Scope:
ASTM D7710 test procedure establishes a consistent approach for gathering data for research and development, quality control, acceptance and rejection under specified conditions, and particular objectives.
Procedure:
In ASTM D7710, the vessel is filled with the media and is then submerged at the bottom of the vessel. The media is carefully removed, and the total volume is measured using a graduated cylinder. The test is conducted three times and then the average of these readings is taken. The volume is reported in liters. The density is determined by dividing the mass of the specimen by volume.
Specimen size:
Specimens should be conditioned at 23 ± 2°C.
Data:
In ASTM D7710 testing, the volume can be determined as follow:
Volume(liter) =Weight of media/Weight of one liter of media
Density can be calculated as:
Density = Mass of specimen/Volume
Conclusion:
ASTM D7710 test technique is used to determine the volume and density of solid items with irregular shapes.
