Aerospace is a word coined to refer to anything related to space and has various applications in military, industry, and the global world. The aerospace industry is concerned with the production, research, and development of flight vehicles such as aircrafts, spacecrafts, gliders, satellites, and airplanes. It is a major contributor in the economy and technical innovation. It covers the designing, testing, and modification of space related systems.

ASTM standards have been devised to provide guidance for space-equipment manufacturers as they engage in the production and designing of aircrafts. In order to ensure safety and better quality of the aircrafts, ASTM International has developed a number of standards critical to aircraft construction, maintenance, and aviation fuel. These standards abide by the global requirements and are aligned with the guidelines of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

ASTM standards followed to ensure safety in all realms of aviation include B07 Aluminium and Light Metals, F34.06 Bearings, D30.09 Composites, F07 Hydrogen Embrittlement, E07 Nondestructive Testing, and F39 Wiring. The aircrafts, certifications, and training programs addressed under ASTM International are F44 General Aviation Aircraft, F37 Light Sport Aircraft, NCATT Standards and Certification Program, D02 Fuel, Training in ASTM Light Sport Aircraft Standards, Aviation Fuel and Petroleum Lab Tech Training, Proficiency Testing (Aviation Fuel), and E17 Runways.

All these standards are practiced in various aerospace industries to ensure efficient production and maintenance of space equipment and systems. These standards help focus on the minute details and opt for effective ways to manufacture reliable space equipment.
