ASTM D3012 test method evaluates Thermal-Oxidative Stability of Plastics by using a Specimen Rotator within an Oven. This test determines the thermal aging properties of plastic samples.
Scope:
Thermal-Oxidative Stability by ASTM D3012 testing method determines the thermal aging properties of plastic samples. Originally used for polypropylene testing, this method can be used for other plastics as well. The use of a bi-axial rotator and an air recirculation oven confirm uniform exposure to all samples.
Test Procedure:
Test samples are fixed in the clips on the biaxial rotator. Spacers, such as the Teflon, are used to insulate samples thermally from the clips. The oven temperature and the test time are guided by the corresponding material specifications. The procedure can be executed either for a given timeframe and checked, or samples can be evaluated for time to fail at scheduled intervals.
Sample size:
ASTM D3012 standard requires a test sample of 10 mm x 50 mm x 1 mm molded to size or cut from a larger piece. GM 9509P requires a test sample of 75 mm x 25 mm x 3.2 mm, with a 45° bevel on one end.
Data:
Thermal degradation is measured by visual examination.
ASTM E572 test method covers the analysis of stainless and alloy steels by Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (WDXRF). It provides rapid, multi-element determinations with sufficient accuracy to assure product quality.
The ASTM D2674 is a standard test method for the analysis of sulfochromate etches solution used in the surface preparation of aluminum. The ASTM D2674 standard specifies a method for determining the efficacy of an etchant used to prepare the surface of aluminum alloys for subsequent adhesive bonding.
An immunological method for quantization of Hevea Natural Rubber (HNRL) proteins using rabbit anti-HNRL serum. Rabbits immunized with HNRL proteins react to the majority of the proteins present, and their sera have the capability to detect most if not all the proteins in HNRL.
