Taber abrasion is a technique for evaluating a material's resistance to wear. A Taber abrader is used to measure Taber abrasion. In Taber abrasion, the material being tested rotates beneath two abrasive wheels for a predetermined amount of time and under a predetermined stress.
TABER ABRASION
The Taber abrasion test is carried out on coated materials because, if the coating is allowed to wear off, the base material would be exposed to the environment and will corrode prematurely. Taber Industries created the Taber abrasion process. A material sample is put into a Taber Abraser machine to conduct a Taber abrasion test. Two abrasive wheels on the Taber Abraser are lowered onto the material and the applied pressure is maintained for a predetermined period of time. The material being tested is assessed by comparing the weight lost throughout the test to the test period and the load applied after the Taber Abraser has finished its cycle.
By using Taber abrasion, several different materials can be tested. To test base metals, ceramics, polymers, and fabrics, Taber abrasion can be utilized. On coating materials, Taber abrasion tests are commonly carried out. A pipeline that is buried in the ground is one example. To make sure that it can endure the wear caused by the soil and other ground materials changing around it, the coating of the pipeline is put under test.

Conclusion:
The Taber Abrasion Test is an important test method for evaluating the abrasion resistance of materials, including plastics, paints, coatings, and textiles. This test method provides detailed guidance on the test conditions, sample preparation, measurement procedures, and reporting requirements for accurately determining the wear resistance of materials.

ASTM E572 test method covers the analysis of stainless and alloy steels by Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (WDXRF). It provides rapid, multi-element determinations with sufficient accuracy to assure product quality.
The ASTM D2674 test is a standard test method for the analysis of sulfochromate etch solutions used in the surface preparation of aluminum. The ASTM D2674 standard specifies a method for determining the efficacy of an etchant used to prepare the surface of aluminum alloys for subsequent adhesive bonding.
