Determination of Diffuse Light Transmission Factor of flat and corrugated translucent Reinforced Plastics Panels is done by ASTM D1494 using a simple apparatus and a fluorescent tube as the light source. ASTM D1494 test obtains the diffuse light transmission factor of both corrugated and flat translucent plastic panels
Scope:
The Diffuse Light Transmission Factor test by ASTM D1494 determines the diffuse light transmission factor of translucent reinforced plastics. The relation between the reflected light and the incident light is termed as the light transmission factor or the reflection factor. This ratio is 6-8 % in clean glass, 70-80 % in cement and concrete, 10-60% in light wood, 10-15% in dark wood, and 5-20 % in prismatic glasses. ASTM D1494 test obtains the diffuse light transmission factor of both corrugated and flat translucent building panels with the help of a simple apparatus.
Test Procedure:
The test samples are conditioned at 23±2°C (73.4±3.6°F) and 50±5% relative humidity for about 40 hours before the ASTM D1494 test is performed. The test sample is then placed in the test cabinet, completely covering the 610610 mm (2424 inches) inside space as specified by ASTM D1494. The transmission is read on the test instrument as a percentage.
Sample size:
The translucent reinforced plastic panel test samples should be a minimum of 610 mm (24 inches) long and more than 610 mm (24 inches) wide, as per ASTM D1494. The maximum desired width is 711 mm (28 inches).
Data:
The following data is collected in ASTM D1494:
The percent transmission of the test sample. The source and identity of test samples. The average thickness of the test sample in inches
Conclusion:
The Diffuse Light Transmission Factor test by ASTM D1494 determines the diffuse light transmission factor of translucent reinforced plastics.
ASTM E572 test method covers the analysis of stainless and alloy steels by Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (WDXRF). It provides rapid, multi-element determinations with sufficient accuracy to assure product quality.
The ASTM D2674 is a standard test method for the analysis of sulfochromate etches solution used in the surface preparation of aluminum. The ASTM D2674 standard specifies a method for determining the efficacy of an etchant used to prepare the surface of aluminum alloys for subsequent adhesive bonding.
An immunological method for quantization of Hevea Natural Rubber (HNRL) proteins using rabbit anti-HNRL serum. Rabbits immunized with HNRL proteins react to the majority of the proteins present, and their sera have the capability to detect most if not all the proteins in HNRL.
ASTM G65 measures the resistance of metallic materials to abrasion using the dry sand/rubber wheel apparatus. The quality, durability, and toughness of the sample are determined using this test. Metallic materials are ranked in their resistance to scratching abrasion under a controlled environment.
ASTM E2141 test methods provide accelerated aging and monitoring of the performance of time-dependent electrochromic devices (ECD) integrated in insulating glass units (IGU). This test helps to understand the relative serviceability of electrochromic glazings applied on ECD.
ASTM C724 test method is used in analyzing the quality and ease of maintenance of a ceramic decoration on architectural-type glass. This test method is useful in the acknowledgment of technical standards.
