    Scope:

    The ASTM E738-11 test method is used for analyzing iron ore concentrates and agglomerates and is primarily intended to serve as a referee method for ensuring that compositional parameters are met.

    Procedure:

    A mixed flux of sodium carbonate and sodium peroxide is employed to fuse the sample in a zirconium crucible. The fused mass is dissolved in HCl. R2O3 hydroxides are precipitated with ammonia and treated with EDTA.EDTA is titrated with zinc solution and aluminum is calculated.

    Specimen size:

    The specimen should be conditioned at 105°C to 110°C.

    Calculation:

    Aluminum content can be calculated by using the following formula:

    Aluminum% = 0.02698A/B

    A = Zinc solution used in milligram

    B = sample used in grams
