    ASTM E579-04 test method determines the limit of detection of a fluorescence substance by using the technique of molecular fluorescence spectroscopy. It helps with specifying the application of fluorescence materials. The data obtained can be used for research, quality control, and performance evaluation. The readings are taken with respect to the signal-to-noise ratio to ensure accuracy. The results are employed to make effective fluorescence measuring systems.


    The test apparatus is set up to determine the limit of detection of quinine sulfate dihydrate in solution. The excitation and emission bandwidth for the fluorescence measuring system is adjusted. The peak wavelengths are set to be 350 and 450 nm, respectively. The solvent is put in the sample cell, and readings for the signal are noted. The ten consecutive measurements are taken, and the final result is expressed by taking their average.
