    THE ASTM E576-08 test method can be used under real-world or simulated in-service situations. One side of the unit is exposed to room temperature and the other to natural or simulated weather conditions.


    This test is carried out with the help of a unique apparatus that consists of two cold cylindrical metal blocks stacked one on top of the other and separated by a regular gap. To ascertain at which temperature frost occurs on the matching lower air space glass surface, the test specimen was placed in contact with the cooled flat surface. When visible frost appeared, the dew point was recorded.

    Specimen size:

    The specimen should be conditioned at (75±5) °C.


    In this way, by performing ASTM A576-08, the frost/dew point of the sealed insulating glass unit in the vertical position is determined.
