Scope:
This test method contains two test methods for the determination of manganese in iron ores, concentrates, and agglomerates. Test Method A covers the determination of manganese in the concentration range from 2.5 % to 15.0 %. Test Method B covers the determination of manganese in the concentration range of 0.01 % to 5.00 %.

Test Method A
Calculate the percentage of manganese as follows:
Where,
A = milliliters of KMnO4 solution required for the titration of the sample,
B = milliliters of KMnO4 solution required for the titration of the blank,
C = normality of the KMnO4 solution, and
D = grams of sample used.
Test Method B
Convert the absorbance to milligrams of manganese using the calibration curve. Calculate the percentage of manganese in the sample as follows:
