Procedure:
In ASTM D7617/7617M, the fiber-reinforced polymer rod or bar is measured and placed in a double shear fixture. The shear fixture has cutting blades and is attached to a universal mechanical testing machine. The specimen is placed in the bar seats, and the displacement is adjusted for the test machine. Uniform force is applied until the failure is reached. The failure force and the change in the specimen’s stiffness are noted.
