Scope:
ASTM D7513-09 is used to determine the initial capacity of unused cartridges, evaluate unused mixed bed ion exchange cartridges for conformance to specifications, and calculate capacity on a cartridge basis. This test method is also important to test different mixed bed resin cartridges.
Procedure:
This test strategy is debilitating a cartridge of blended bed particle trade material to a particular endpoint with an influent arrangement of known synthesis and volume. The profluent conductivity of each volumetric augmentation equivalent to 2 Vc is measured and recorded. The process is continued until the 1.0 μS/cm value is achieved; then, at that point, the volume of test water handled to a 1.0 μS/cm endpoint (V1) in liters is recorded.
