Scope

In ASTM D6128, most flow problems may be avoided or minimized by measuring the flow properties of bulk solids and designing bins and hoppers based on these flow qualities.

Procedure

In ASTM D6128, the shear force – shear strain map after performing a shear test throughout the whole sheer distance of the specimen is examined. The bulk density of the specimen is determined after each shear test. Then valid shear points of the specimen are determined. For each pre-shear normal stress value, the data is reviewed separately.
