ASTM C866 Ceramic whiteware Clay Filtration Rate
The test ASTM C866 determines the rate of speed with which a water-clay-paste layer is formed from a clay-water slip under pressure filtration. The specimen has to pass various tests for water permeability through a clay-water paste during the trial.
Scope:
For the test ASTM C866, there is a linear relationship between the filter printing time and the square of the paste layer thickness. Also known as hydraulic permeability in some spheres, the test uses the water test to determine the permeability of the clay paste. They are used in several industries like material development, railway, Fire safety, Design, Electrical equipment, mechanical and cement industry.
Procedure:
ASTM C866 uses a range of measures for the test. The filtration rate is directly related to white goods processes such as filter pressing, slip casting, and dish drying. The water permeability through a clay water paste is the control mechanism. For the test ASTM C866, the filtration rate is directly related to the pressure of the filter press and the void fraction of the pasta layer and is inversely proportional to the square of the pasta layer. The surface of the clay, the ratio of solids to liquid in slip, and the viscosity of the water at the test temperature are noted. The clay is subjected to various tests like this wherein the end data is amalgamated to know the clay’s filtration rate.

Specimen Size:
ASTM C866 uses a specimen of clay whose diameter varies from 0.05 up to 10 µm.
Data:
The filtration rate data is stated in metric units that are to be regarded as the standard. For the test ASTM C866, the filtration rate is directly related to the pressure of the filter press and the void fraction of the pasta layer and is inversely proportional to the square of the pasta layer.
Conclusion:
The test ASTM C866 determines the rate of speed with which a water-clay-paste layer is formed from a clay-water slip under pressure filtration.
ASTM E572 test method covers the analysis of stainless and alloy steels by Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (WDXRF). It provides rapid, multi-element determinations with sufficient accuracy to assure product quality.
The ASTM D2674 test is a standard test method for the analysis of sulfochromate etch solutions used in the surface preparation of aluminum. The ASTM D2674 standard specifies a method for determining the efficacy of an etchant used to prepare the surface of aluminum alloys for subsequent adhesive bonding.
An immunological method for quantization of Hevea Natural Rubber (HNRL) proteins using rabbit anti-HNRL serum. Rabbits immunized with HNRL proteins react to the majority of the proteins present, and their sera have the capability to detect most if not all the proteins in HNRL.
ASTM G65 measures the resistance of metallic materials to abrasion using the dry sand/rubber wheel apparatus. The quality, durability, and toughness of the sample are determined using this test. Metallic materials are ranked in their resistance to scratching abrasion under a controlled environment.
ASTM E2141 test methods provide accelerated aging and monitoring of the performance of time-dependent electrochromic devices (ECD) integrated in insulating glass units (IGU). This test helps to understand the relative serviceability of electrochromic glazings applied on ECD.
ASTM C724 test method is used in analyzing the quality and ease of maintenance of a ceramic decoration on architectural-type glass. This test method is useful in the acknowledgment of technical standards.
